  • AA Meetings (Mondays & Fridays)
  • Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held on Monday nights at 8 p.m. in the basement of the First United Methodist Church in Forrest City, and on Friday nights at 8 p.m. at the Lutheran Church on Highway 1 North.

  • Big Woods Birding Festival (May 17)
  • The annual Big Woods Birding Festival in Clarendon is set for May 17th.  The event features a children's fishing derby, the Little Rock Zoo Birds of Prey Program, musical entertainment, and various family activities.  For more information, call Clarendon City Hall at 870.747.5414.

  • Brinkley - Cleanup (May 23)
  • The City of Brinkley will have a city-wide cleanup May 12-23.  Items can be picked up curbside.  Dumpsters will also be placed in various locations around the city.  No compressors please.

  • Calvary School - Graduation (May 22)
  • Graduation for Calvary Christian School 6th grade will be May 22nd at 9:00am at Calvary Christian Elementary School.

  • CARE Center Needs (M - TH)
  • The CARE Center is in dire need of men's clothing, especially socks, underwear, jeans, and coats.  You may drop your donations at the CARE Center from 10:00 to 2:00 Mondays through Thursdays.

  • Driving Tests - Lee County
  • Those wanting to obtain an Arkansas drivers license can take a written exam at 1:00pm and the road test at 9:00am each Thursday at the Lee County Courthouse.

  • Early Voting (May 19)
  • Early voting for the May 20th Primary Election is underway and will continue through May 19th.  Hours are 8am-6pm Monday through Friday and 10am-4pm on Saturday.

  • EACC - Basic Life Support (May 15)
  • East Arkansas Community College will offer a Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers class on May 15th from 9am until 12pm in room B129 in the Learning Resource Center.  To register, contact Tiffany Billingsley at (870) 633-4480, ext. 289.

  • EACC - Commencement (May 16)
  • Commencement Ceremonies for East Arkansas Community College will be May 16th at 7pm at the Forrest City Civic Center.  Graduates in twenty-two academic and technical programs will be receiving certificates and diplomas.

  • FCHS Athletic Banquet (May 19)
  • The 2008 Forrest City High School Athletic Banquet will be May 19th at the F.C. High School Cafeteria beginning at 6:00pm.  Dr. Fitz Hill, President of Arkansas Baptist College, will be the featured speaker.  Tickets are $10 and may be purchased from the high school main office or the superintendent's office.  For more information, call 633-1485.

  • FCHS Class of 1988 - Reunion (May 23)
  • The Forrest City High School Class of 1988 will have their 20th reunion May 23rd-25th.  All alumni are encouraged to attend.  If you are or know a 1988 graduate or alumni, please email fchsclass88@yahoo.com or call 870.633.8838.

  • FCHS Class of 1993 - Reunion (May 23)
  • The Forrest City High School Class of 1993 will hold their 15th reunion May 23rd-24th.  Registration and Meet-N-Greet will be at the Forrest City Civic Center at 6pm on the 23rd.  A Class Picnic will be held on the 24th from 11am until 2pm at Stuart Springs Park, and Mardi Gras Night will begin at 7:00pm on the 24th at the civic center.  Contact: fchs93@yahoo.com.

  • FC Library - Reading Program (May 30)
  • "Catch the Reading Bug" will begin June 3rd at the Forrest City Library.  Sign-up is May 27th-30th.  Programs will begin at 1:00pm on the following Tuesdays:  June 3rd, June 24th, July 8th, and July 22nd.  For more information, call 633-5646.

  • FC Little Theatre - Auditions (May 15)
  • The Forrest City Little Theatre will hold auditions on May 15th at the EACC Lecture Hall for a musical revue to be presented this summer.  Children ages 9 and up will audition at 5pm; adults will audition at 6pm.  For more information, call 633-4480, Ext 255 or Ext 332.

  • FSA - Acreage Certification (May 15)
  • The St. Francis County FSA Office is taking certification of planted acreage for fall-seeded crops.  A late payment fee will be charged for reports filed after May 15th.  For more information, call 870-633-3055.

  • GED Classes - CRTI
  • Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute has ABE/GED classes.  There is no charge for these classes.  For more information, call CRTI at 633-5411 or 1-800-842-2317.

  • Marianna - Arts in the Park (May 17)
  • An Arts in the Park concert is scheduled for May 17th from 6-8pm at the Court Square in downtown Marianna.  The U. S. Navy Band from Millington will present an 18-piece jazz ensemble.  Everyone is invited to attend, bring lawn chairs and a picnic supper.

  • McCrory - MosquitoFest (May 17)
  • MosquitoFest will be held in downtown McCrory May 16th and 17th.

  • Palestine-Wheatley - Sports Physicals (May 15)
  • Athletic/sports physicals for 7-12 graders at Palestine-Wheatley Schools for the 2008-2009 school year will be May 15th from 2:00-4:00pm in the high school music room.  The physicals are $10.  Physicals are required for all students wishing to play any type of sports.

  • Prescription Assistance
  • The East Arkansas Enterprise Community, in partnership with the Mid-Delta Community Consortium and the AmeriCorps Program, offers a Prescription Assistance Program.  To make an appointment, call Michelle Pendleton at 630-2005.

  • Real Estate Records Available Online
  • Real estate records for St. Francis County are now available online and free of charge.  County Assessor Craig Jones said web surfers may go to www.ARCountyData.com, then click on "St. Francis" under the list of counties.  Another screen will appear--click on "Subscriber Login," then "Free Public Search."

  • Rolling Readers Volunteers Needed
  • Forrest City School District is currently taking applications for volunteer readers in the Rolling Readers program.  Volunteers will read once a week to students in pre-K through 4th grade.  To volunteer, call 633.0556 or 630.6409.

  • SFC Adoption Coalition
  • The St. Francis County Adoption Coalition is seeking members to promote and educate the community regarding adoption.  The coalition meets on the second Friday of each month from 12-1pm at EACC's Learning Resource Center.  For more information, call 270-1250.

  • SFC Museum - Fundraiser (May 17)
  • The St. Francis County Museum will host a parking lot fundraiser May 17th from 8am-2pm.  For more information, call 261-1744.

  • TBI - Photo Contest (June 6)
  • The Tourism & Business Initiative of Eastern Arkansas will have its third annual "Showcase Our Gladlands" photo contest until June 6th.  The photos must showcase the region (St. Francis and Lee Counties).  To submit photos, email tastin@gladlands.com.  For more information, call 870.633.4480 Ext. 353.

  • Woodruff Seniors - Dance
  • The Woodruff County Senior Citizens Program sponsors a dance with live music every Saturday from 6-9pm at the Senior Citizens Center in Patterson.  The cost is $4 per person.
